FastBound has been the industry standard since 2010, and its $9/mo entry tier is genuinely the cheapest option for a low-volume dealer. It has real strengths NexusFFL doesn't match yet: a native electronic 4473, live multi-state NICS/POC integration, and an attorney-backed legal-defense plan through FFLGuard. What it doesn't have is a cryptographically verifiable audit log, a dedicated theft/loss or trace-request workflow, or a one-click ATF variance-request packet — those are where NexusFFL is built deeper.
Orchid is the enterprise and compliance-firm pick — a genuinely unique differentiator is in-house attorneys and former ATF investigators reviewing the product itself. It ships native e4473 storage and 3310.4/3310.12 automation. Its free and $25–$35/mo tiers are attractive for low volume, but multi-store or ERP-integrated dealers land on a custom-quoted "Advanced" tier. NexusFFL's pricing stays flat and published at every tier, and multi-tenant sign-up doesn't require booking a call.
Easy Bound Book's real strength is depth on the accounting/ERP side — it's built on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, which matters if you're a manufacturer who wants A&D transactions to post directly into your general ledger. The tradeoff: electronic 4473 and NICS checks are paid add-ons rather than included, and its per-user pricing on the Pro/ERP tiers ($100–$150+ per additional user) gets expensive for a multi-staff shop fast. NexusFFL includes what it has at every tier, no per-seat add-on math.
FFL Boss is a reasonable low-cost all-in-one option, with electronic 4473, FBI LEEP background checks, and an NFA module bundled in around a similar price point to NexusFFL's Starter tier. Its audit trail and reporting are more basic than a hash-chained log, and it doesn't publicly advertise automated 3310.4/3310.12 detection, a theft/loss workflow, or a trace-request tool — three things a shop under ATF review will actually reach for.
